La Russell is a city in Jasper County, Missouri, United States. The population was 114 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Joplin, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area.
La Russell is located in the valley of the Spring River, adjacent to the Jasper-Lawrence county line. Bowers Mill lies just to the northeast on the river. The Missouri-Pacific Railroad line lies along the river just to the north of the town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.34 square miles (0.88 km), all land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 114 people, 42 households, and 33 families residing in the city. The population density was 335.3 inhabitants per square mile (129.5/km). There were 55 housing units at an average density of 161.8 per square mile (62.5/km). The racial makeup of the city was 95.6% White, 2.6% Native American, and 1.8% from two or more races.
There were 42 households of which 40.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 21.4% were non-families. 21.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.06.
The median age in the city was 43 years. 27.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 2.6% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 20.2% were from 25 to 44; 31.6% were from 45 to 64; and 18.4% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 53.5% male and 46.5% female.
